48 HOURS IN SOLVANG WITH ALEX THE BEAR

HEJ!
Two hours and some change away from Los Angeles proper. Solvang is a lovely Danish inspired town founded in 1911 from previously owned Mexican  farmland. Mexican influences are very present, especially in the food. Several restaurants feature Mexican and Danish cuisine. Keeping true to the Wild Wild West fusion that is California.

5 pm

First things first... Drop out off luggage to the suite at The Hamlet Inn. A hip boutique style motel in the heart of Solvang.

7:30pm
Check out complimentary inn cruiser bikes. Nothing like Cruising on bikes like in Copenhagen.

8pm
Dinner at Root 246 a farm to table style restaurant. Featuring local wineries and interesting cocktails.

11:00 Am
Putting our name down for Brunch at the infamous Paula's Pancakes... A thirty five minute wait. Oh brunch everywhere...

It's okay, perfect for a short walk and first windmill photo with Alex the Bear.

11:15 Am
Pre-Brunch snack at Olsen's Bakery. Tea and Danish pastries of course.

11:40 Am
Danish Pancakes Yay!!

1pm
Bike check!! Cruisen... On a Sunday afternoon... Yay!!

1:15 pm
Shopping! It's really cool to see the different speciality shops... it gives me a nostalgic feeling. Of what, it must have been like to shop all artisan style. One of my favorite shops was an old school department store called Rasmussen, this place was super cool from unique hand made toys to fabric to pottery and jewelry. Another shop B.Living stood out was a more modern product boutique mixed in with curated vintage from Europe.

2pm
Danish Treats at Solvang Restaurant window for their famous Aebleskivers, a Dutch jam-filled donut like pastry. Plus, we had to get some treats for road at Old Fashion Fudge Kitchen.
4pm
Water break, of should I say beer  after biking around. Checked out The Red Viking Restaurant know for their Smørgåsbord. Where you can eat Viking style.

After Wine tasting the day before, and cycling through the picturesque town that is Solvang. I can definitely say I will visit again. A lovely weekend getaway from LA LA LA. Ha.
Cheers to California Adventures.
Farvel!
